Protopomorphogenia Terms of Use and Content Protection

Visitor Terms · Version 1 · Effective 21 October 2026

These terms apply to the Protopomorphogenia website and content made available through it, including future work when it is created or offered on the site. This may include writing and manuscripts; excerpts; music, compositions, performances, recordings, and narration; voices; artwork, images, maps, and characters; website design, code, and digital assets; and interactive experiences or environments, including custom IVEs, when those materials are made available. Copyright notices use the project name Protopomorphogenia and the year 2026 where appropriate. Rights vary by item: follow its credits and licence. Protection applies only to rights the project actually holds or controls and does not claim exclusive rights in public-domain, third-party, licensed, collaborative, or other material beyond those rights.

In plain language: You may read and listen through your browser for personal use. That access does not give you permission to reuse the work. Ask first; any approval must be a specific affirmative written response from the relevant rights holder. A request does not guarantee approval. Applicable legal exceptions and item-specific third-party rights still apply.

Terms of Use

1. Operator and scope

These Terms of Use apply when you visit or use protopomorphogenia.com, including public reading pages, on-page audio playback, and interactive features actually offered on the site. “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Protopomorphogenia project as presented on this website. This project name does not represent that a corporation or charity exists.

These terms govern public visitor access only. A client website-services project, commissioned work, or custom Interactive Environment (IVE) is governed by its separate scope and written agreement. Nothing here gives a client a right to copy, host, deliver, resell, or modify a client IVE.

2. Personal access to the site

You may visit the public site for your own ordinary personal use: read its pages, listen using on-page playback, and use interactive controls provided on the page. This permission is limited to viewing and listening through a browser. Your browser may make temporary technical copies needed to load, display, or play the site.

This personal access does not transfer ownership or grant permission to reproduce, adapt, extract, save, download, archive, redistribute, repost, commercially exploit, train a model on, resell, or otherwise reuse site material. It does not authorize copying or cloning the site or its presentation. Separate downloads are available only where a particular item is expressly marked for download under its own terms. Third-party and public-domain material keeps its own legal status and item-specific terms. A permission to visit, read, or listen is never permission to reuse the material.

3. Reuse requires a specific written approval

Except for ordinary personal browser access described above, uses of material require prior, specific written approval from the relevant rights holder unless applicable law independently permits the use. This includes, where rights are controlled, reproducing, adapting, extracting, downloading, distributing, uploading, reposting, publicly performing, selling, sublicensing, commercially exploiting, or creating a derivative work from text, images, music, narration, recordings, or interactive assets. It also includes mirroring or rehosting the site, cloning a substantial part of its design or content, passing material off as your own, and training or supplying protected material for model training or asset resale.

These limits cover only rights that we or the relevant rights holder actually control. They do not claim ownership over ideas, facts, names, public-domain works, third-party materials, or another person’s rights. They do not prevent fair use or other statutory exceptions.

4. Links, quotations, and promotion

You may share links to public pages. Any quotation or other use that applicable law permits remains subject to that law. For screenshots, artwork, music, narration, recordings, substantial quotations, or other site media used in a review, commentary, social post, portfolio, video, or promotion, request approval from the relevant rights holder first unless a statutory exception applies. Keep credits and do not imply endorsement or present another person’s work as your own.

Approval is limited to the specific material and use confirmed in the written response. It does not override third-party terms or statutory exceptions. There is no automatic promotional, screenshot, excerpt, or commercial-use permission and no fixed excerpt duration or word count that guarantees permission.

5. Ownership, credits, and submitted material

Authors, creators, and other rights holders keep the rights they actually hold. Making a work free to read or play does not place it under an open licence. A credit alone is not permission to reproduce an entire work. Permission for a text does not automatically include its illustration, musical composition, performance, recording, or other components.

The site may contain AI-assisted, licensed, public-domain, collaborative, or third-party material. We claim no greater rights than we own or are allowed to license. Follow any item-specific credit or licence. If reuse status is unclear, ask the credited rights holder rather than assuming permission.

You keep rights in original material you submit. Sending a question or suggestion does not transfer ownership or give us a general right to publish your protected expression. A future service may have separate, clearly presented rules for material deliberately posted to it.

6. Respectful and non-disruptive use

Use public pages and their controls lawfully and without disrupting other visitors or the service. Do not attempt unauthorized access, bypass access or security controls, materially interfere with availability, distribute malware, probe for private information, impersonate someone, harass people, or expose another person’s private information without a lawful basis. Do not automate requests in a way that materially overloads or degrades the service.

This section does not prohibit ordinary search indexing, accessibility tools, assistive technology, or non-disruptive security research. It does not assert features that are not actually present, such as public uploads, multiplayer, accounts, comments, persistent-world storage, or modding.

7. Site features and practical limits

Reading, audio, and interactive features depend on a compatible browser, device, network, and any third-party service used by that feature. Playback can fail; controls can vary by browser; content can change; and external services can become unavailable. A control that hides a download option in some browsers is a convenience, not DRM or a guarantee that content cannot be captured or extracted.

The project is an evolving creative website. Unless a specific written offer says otherwise, we do not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, a particular playback result, future features, a completion date, or a release schedule. This paragraph describes practical limits; it does not waive rights or responsibility that applicable law preserves.

8. External websites and services

The site may link to or use an external website or service. A link is for convenience and does not itself mean we endorse or are affiliated with that provider. External providers control their own content, terms, privacy practices, and availability. Review their policies before using them. We cannot control changes made by an external provider; any limitation of responsibility applies only as far as applicable law permits.

9. Privacy and optional analytics

Agreeing to these terms for a gated site feature is separate from the optional choice to allow Analytics. Optional Google Analytics starts only after you choose Allow in the Privacy choices control. You may reject it without losing access to public reading pages, and you can change or withdraw your choice using that control. Google may collect standard website usage information and may use automatic measurement features. Analytics is unavailable on Services pages, including the inquiry form. A preference stored only in your browser is not a server-side record of consent.

10. Permissions and questions

To request permission, contact us at protopomorphogenia@gmail.com before using the material. Identify the specific page or work, portion, proposed use, format, platform, audience, and whether it is commercial or monetized. A request, acknowledgment, payment, silence, or button click is not permission. Permission exists only if the relevant rights holder sends an affirmative written response that identifies the material and the use approved. Approval is limited to that stated scope. The rights holder has no obligation to respond or approve. Do not send passwords, recovery codes, private keys, or other secrets with a request.

11. Version and changes

The published terms display their version and effective date. If terms for a gated feature change materially, the updated version is shown before you are asked to agree to it. A previous acceptance does not count as acceptance of a materially different version. Merely opening a public page, browsing, or navigating the site does not constitute agreement.

12. Legal rights and applicable law

These terms do not remove fair use, public-domain status, other statutory exceptions, consumer protections, accessibility rights, or any right that applicable law does not allow us to waive. Copyright and contract questions depend on the facts and applicable jurisdiction. These terms do not choose a court, governing law, or dispute process.

13. Software and custom interactive projects

These visitor terms do not grant a right to download, distribute, or reuse software. A separately distributed software product and any custom IVE or client website project remain governed by their own written scope and agreements.
